Tenses and Verb Forms

Tenses and verb forms are elements of grammar that indicate the time at which an action or state of being occurs. In English, verbs change form to show different tenses, which include past, present, and future. Additionally, verb forms can vary depending on whether the action is completed, ongoing, or conditional. Examples of verb forms include the base form (e.g., “run”), past tense (e.g., “ran”), present participle (e.g., “running”), and past participle (e.g., “run”). Understanding tenses and verb forms is crucial for accurate communication and conveying the timing of events in sentences.
